Another Place, The Machrie launches new 2026 golf breaks
Another Place, The Machrie on Scotland’s Isle of Islay has unveiled a new series of golf breaks for 2026, offering players the chance to improve their game on one of Britain’s most distinctive links courses on the Hebridean island.
Ranked 78th in Golf World’s Top 100 Courses and named among the GB&I Top 100 X Factor Courses at number 60, The Machrie’s championship links stretches more than 7,000 yards beside seven miles of Atlantic coastline, where towering dunes, revetted bunkers and natural contours create one of the most memorable links settings in the UK.
The venue was also recognised at last week’s Scottish Golf Tourism Awards as the best premium hotel, further cementing its growing reputation among very best that Scotland has to offer.
The new breaks combine professional coaching, stay-and-play escapes and unique travel experiences to the Hebridean island destination.
Alan Martin, Golf General Manager at The Machrie, said: “Golfers travel from all over the world to experience The Machrie because it offers something genuinely different. Set among the dunes on Islay’s Atlantic coast, it provides a true links challenge but is also immensely enjoyable to play.
“Our new breaks are designed to make that experience more accessible, whether someone is discovering links golf for the first time or looking to refine their game with the guidance of a PGA Professional.”
The Learn to Play break will take place from April 8–11 and is designed for beginners or those returning to the game, combining coaching with the opportunity to play one of Scotland’s most dramatic links courses.
Across two half-day sessions, guests work with The Machrie’s resident PGA Professional on the fundamentals of the game, including grip, posture, short game and putting. Coaching incorporates TrackMan analysis, personalised feedback and on-course experience, helping players build confidence before heading onto the links.
For golfers looking to refine their skills, the Advance Your Game break from July 15–18 delivers two days of focused coaching covering every aspect of performance.
Sessions include full swing development, short game technique, bunker play, putting and on-course strategy, combining modern performance technology with expert coaching insight. Each participant receives personalised feedback and a tailored development plan to support continued improvement.
Beyond the coaching breaks, The Machrie offers a range of packages for visiting golfers.
The Stay and Play package provides the opportunity to experience the championship links alongside The Machrie’s wider golf facilities. Guests can enjoy rounds on the Atlantic-view course as well as relaxed play on The Hebrides social putting course and the six-hole par-three Wee Course.
The Machrie also offers a day-return golfing experience from Glasgow in partnership with Loganair, bringing the phrase ‘flying visit’ to life.
Guests fly directly to Islay before enjoying breakfast and a round on the championship links. The experience also includes time on the practice facilities and lunch in 18 Restaurant & Bar, accompanied by a locally produced Islay single malt.
The Machrie has also partnered with The Marine Hotel Ballycastle in Northern Ireland and the Kintyre Express to create a multi-destination golf escape linking two renowned coastal links regions.
Guests begin their journey with a round at The Machrie before travelling by high-speed ferry across the North Channel to continue their golfing itinerary along Northern Ireland’s celebrated Causeway Coast.
